How To Hate Someone Less (Even When They Deserve It)
Speaker - Danielle Clay, Author, Parent Educator, Department Chair of Parent Education at Fairfield-Suisun Adult School
Food: The Sprig will be on-site serving their a full menu of dinner options
Why is conflict so hard, and how come “winning” an argument can still feel like losing? Navigating conflict isn’t a personality trait, it’s a skill that you can learn and get better at. In this funny and interactive lecture, Danielle Clay, a conflict resolution expert, explores why we repeat the same fights (sometimes with entirely different people), why certain people get under our skin, and what we can do differently when conflict inevitably shows up.
Through humor, storytelling, and audience participation, we’ll look at practical ways to handle difficult people, disagree better, and protect our own peace without cutting people out of our lives.
This lecture is about the messiness of being human and how we can get along better with the most important people in our lives. Expect some profanity, plenty of self-recognition, and perhaps a few “Oh...I do that” moments.
Danielle Clay is an author, parent educator, and speaker specializing in communication, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships. She's the Department Chair of Parent Education at Fairfield-Suisun Adult School and founder of Next Steps Parenting. She wrote the book, “Next Steps: Toward Thriving as a Co-Parent,” and she's known for blending research-based strategies with real-world experience, storytelling, and humor.
Bike Dog West Sacramento Brewery is a beloved Sacramento craft brewery who has a rotating lineup of house-made beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. They share their West Sacramento Taproom with Baker Family Wines who will provide wine for the lecture.
